He gained worldwide fame with his iconic series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, especially the legendary print The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Hokusai’s work had a profound influence on the development of Japonism in Europe and inspired artists such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, Schiele, and Klimt.
