Joaquín Sorolla considered the most significant Spanish artist of the turn of the century. Like no other artist of his times, Valencian born Sorolla excelled in capturing moments in beautiful colours, e.g. the sunlight of the South; his sun-drenched pictures deeply impressed even contemporaries like Claude Monet. In addition to Spanish landscapes and beach scenes, dexterous representations of people are recurring motifs. Strong brush strokes and paste painting capture lights and moods and give a vague idea of the power of the wind and the movement of the waves.
Surprisingly that his works of art are largely unknown in Germany. Time to finally discover this "Master of the Light"!
