Since 2017 Goebel Porzellan has been actively supporting the organization „Rettet die Elefanten Afrikas e.V.“ (Save Africa’s elephants). With each figurine of the Elephant series Goebel helps to protect the threatened species.
Kamili and Roho are two further elephant orphans for whom Goebel has taken over sponsorship. Tsavo is in the grips of a brutal dry season, with intense heat and late rains making life extremely challenging for all. Kamili is an orphan who would have never stood a chance, had it not been for a fortuitous, eleventh-hour sighting.
Rohos rescue began while the teams were on another operation, convening at the request of the KWS when the SWT/KWS Canine Unit headed to Tsavo West National Park to help track down two suspected poachers, who had been spotted the evening before. During the briefing, they received a report from a pilot: on a patrol flight, he had seen a small calf nearby that was apparently sitting next to its mother's carcass.

The donations are needed for food, blankets, wages for the keepers, medical care for the animals and much more. Part of the money will also be used to protect wild elephant herds. Because only if the safety of the wild elephants is guaranteed, the future of the orphans, who will later rejoin the herds, will be secured.
Since 2018, Goebel has increased its support and also donates a portion of every sold elephant figurine to the association. In this way, we want to set a good example and encourage even more people to take on a sponsorship. If we all feel responsible, we can succeed in protecting this species.
