Auguste Renoir was born in Limoges and started his artistic career as a porcelain painter. In Paris he became friends with the impressionists around Claude Monet. Flowers, children and young women soon became his favourite motifs. Full of light and grace his works are an eternal hymn to beauty and joy of life.
